Brent Knoll residents are being invited to turn out for a bacon-sandwich when their local postman opens the village’s new-look community shop on Saturday (October 16th).
As reported here, the shop’s current premises has been sold by its owner and therefore the facilities are moving into a Portakabin next to Brent Knoll village hall.
The opening of Brent Knoll’s new-look shop will be held at 10.30am on Saturday 16th October with postie Tim Dean having the honours of declaring the premises open before everyone enjoys a bacon or sausage sandwich.
David Sturgess, Secretary of the Brent Knoll Community Shop, says: “Tim is a celebrity in our village. He has opened our village fete, and he has demonstrated his musical skills at many or our events.”
“We have had a superb response from our community when we had to move our operations from the former village shop to a new Portakabin in the village car park. That required a team of muscular villagers to transport the huge refrigerators and freezer to the new location,” adds David.
“Now we are ready to welcome customers to our new location, and Tim – our village postman – was the unanimous choice of who should open our new shop!”
