An afternoon of hot summer weather attracted big crowds to Brent Knoll’s annual summer fete on Saturday (June 12th).

The village’s Reverend Simon Lewis officially opened the event with organiser John Page, as pictured above.

The crowds of spectators were treated a variety of traditional music, games and stalls plus entertainment.

John Page told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a fantastic afternoon – the School dancers were there with their traditional country dancing, also, Brent Knoll’s own group of male dancers, the Chalice Morris Men, were with us again.”

“The fun sports attracted a good number of entrants for egg and spoon races and three-legged races.”

A good turnout of stalls was on hand, selling woodcarving, jewellery, preserves, honey, cakes, music, bric-a-brac, books and cards.

And there was old-style entertainment too with a bottle-stall, raffle and coconut shy.

Visitors were invited to dress up this year as cartoon characters – and among the eye-catching costumes was Brent Knoll councillor Bob Filmer as Brutus!
