Work to build a new multi-million water park and swimming pool at Brean is on track to be completed at the end of March 2011.
The £1.2m first phase of the project to create the new Brean Splash waterpark at Brean Leisure Park is progressing to schedule, bosses said this week.
The development includes the creation of a new 25 metre six-lane pool and an indoor splash area, plus new changing rooms, reception and a cafe.
The framework of the surrounding buildings which will enclose the existing outdoor pool complex have been constructed. A roof will be built over that area during the second phase of the project during late 2011.
Spokeswoman Claire Wall told Burnham-On-Sea.com that excitement is growing about the project, adding: “Next year will see the opening of the new outdoor water play area in a new pool being constructed adjacent to the existing outdoor pool.”
“The water play equipment will consist of three waterslides aimed towards children between the ages of 5-12 years of age.”
The park will be operating its existing indoor pool complex alongside the new indoor complex and existing outdoor complex during next year’s tourist season.
