Peter Lloyd and Graham Handley dominated this year’s Brean Rally, winning the event in blistering form for the second year in a row.
The speedy duo, driving an Impreza S12 World Rally Car, finished Sunday’s event 42 seconds ahead of David Kynaston and Andy Russell in a Audi A3.

Peter told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was understandably “very pleased” with how the weekend had gone. “We’ve enjoyed the event and are delighted to win for a second year.”
Third place was taken by the Subaru Impreza of Steve Furzeland, which was another 52 seconds adrift.
Among the local teams taking part was Burnham-On-Sea’s Phil Davies and Phillipa Le Coadou in a Toyota MR2. Phillipa told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This was our first rally at Brean in this car and we were delighted to finish 19th overall. Our Toyota is a fairly standard car that doesn’t handle this tight course particularly well.”
Burnham’s Chris Barter and Matt Isaac were also competing in a Vauxhall Nova.
Chris said: “We’re delighted to have come away with a second place in our class and are very pleased the car is fully intact – we just wanted to finish and anything more was a bonus!”
A large crowd of spectators braved bitterly cold weather conditions to watch the two days of action, which was held at Brean Leisure Park. Click here for online video of a car taking part in the rally.
