More than 110 rally drivers have already applied for the 85 places in the starting line-up at this year’s Brean Rally, which will roar into action later this month.
Organiser Rod McKenna of Weston Motor Club told Burnham-On-Sea.com the popular event is already “heavily over-subscribed,” with entries continuing to flood in ahead of the final deadline on January 9th.
The event will again be held at Brean Leisure Park, with leg one taking place on Saturday 26th January featuring six stages and leg two on Sunday 27th January featuring a further six stages – making a total of 52 miles of rallying.
Rod said: “The event is coming together well. There’s already lots of interest and we’re well over the maximum number of 85 entries, which demonstrates the popularity of the rally. It does mean that 20 or so drivers will be disappointed.”
Meanwhile, Highbridge-based UK Farm Finance Ltd has been named as the event’s sponsor for 2008. And the rally organisers have also announced this week that West Country Motorsport Rescue will benefit from charity collections at the event. Almost £36,000 has been raised for good causes during the past 11 years.
