The turbo-charged team of Peter Lloyd and Carl Sorenson have won Brean’s Rally for a third consecutive year – the first rally team to do so.
The race aces led the event at the end of Saturday’s first day of racing at Brean Leisure Park in their Subaru Impreza, pictured above, and then continued their blistering form during Sunday.
They competed the twelve stages 63 seconds ahead of second-placed David Kynaston and Chris Beare in their Audi A3.
Third place was won by Steve and Yvonne Furzeland in their Impreza, a further 65 seconds back.
Peter Lloyd told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was “delighted” to have won the event for the third time in a row – his fifth in the event’s history, which equals Karl Broad’s long-standing record.
27 cars fell by the wayside during the Saturday stages, the majority of the retirements due to mechanical failures.
Organiser Rod McKenna told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was pleased with how the weekend had gone. “It was another cracking success – one of the best-ever in our 15 years of racing here. The competitors really enjoyed it and it all ran like clockwork. The weather was also kind to us for the whole weekend.”
The 15th annual K&R Mitsubishi Stages Rally this year supported Help for Heroes and local charity Highbridge Dreamscheme.
