The opening date of Brean Leisure Park’s new £1.6m swimming pool complex has been announced this week.
Richard House, the park’s managing director, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the first phase of the new Brean Splash water complex will officially open to the public on Thursday, May 19th.
The new complex will feature a six lane heated 25 metre swimming pool with a constant 1.2m depth, a children’s indoor splash park with shooting water jets for kids under eight, a large changing village, cafe and shop.
The new complex will be open to both holiday guests and local residents and will offer a range of swimming lessons in association with the ASA and also parent and toddler, infant and junior sessions.
Mr House added: “Work is also continuing on developing our children’s outdoor play area that will feature small slides, water jets and curtains, and a large climbing frame to compliment the existing outdoor pool complex that opens at whitsun. We hope to have this new feature completed and open for August 2011.”
The park’s existing indoor pool is already open daily and consists of a 15m pool, baby pool and indoor flume. This facility will be open both to resort guests and local residents and day visitors.
The waterpark will create an additional ten new jobs, as recently reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com here.
The second phase of the pool’s expansion will include a new wave pool – incorporating a surfing area and a new slide tower – which is expected to open in 2013.
