The UK’s Minister for Tourism joined a Burnham-On-Sea athlete in cutting a ribbon to officially open the latest phase of Brean Leisure Park’s new £1.6m swimming complex on Friday (August 19th).

John Penrose MP and Burnham’s Romana Winstone, who recently won five medals at the World Transplant Games, were the special guests at the opening of the second phase of the Brean Splash water park.

The new complex is a £1.6m investment for Brean Leisure Park and features a six lane heated 25-metre swimming pool with a constant 1.2m depth plus a children’s indoor splash park area with shooting water jets, changing rooms, a cafe and a shop completing.

The second phase, which opened on Friday, consists of a new outdoor pool with a seaside water play area for under 12’s.

The new pool complex is open to holiday guests and local residents and offers a range of swimming lessons plus parent and toddler, infant and junior sessions.

“We were delighted that John Penrose and Romana officially opened the complex,” the park’s managing director, Richard House, told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “It was a super afternoon.”
