Brean Leisure Park unveils £2million of new attractions

-

Brean Leisure Park has this week unveiled £2million of new attractions as it gears up for the start of this year’s tourist season.

An ice rink, 18-hole mini golf course, indoor surfing facility, boating lake, glass maze and a new rollercoaster are among the new attractions.

Richard Cadell, a director at the park, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have really moved up a level this year with more investment than ever.”

“We have expanded the size of the park and we have relocated our biggest rollercoaster to accommodate all the new rides.”

“We are very proud of the transformation the park has undergone in the last two years and this is just the beginning.”

The new facilities include a golf park built by an American firm who have designed several courses in Florida. The firm has spent two months transforming the front area of the park into the new feature, in which golfers will navigate their way through an 18-hole course while encountering animals and waterfalls.

A large 100ft ice rink will also be arriving in time for the main summer season, and a new maze, called Sea Maze, will also feature glass and mirrors to confuse visitors at every turn.

A new boating lake has also been introduced, featuring boats fitted with water cannons to squirt other riders.

A new ‘dark ride rollercoaster’ will also open in July. Called Astro Storm, the high speed coaster will take its inspiration from Disney’s Space Mountain and Black Hole rides. Fully enclosed in a purpose-built building, riders will experience meteor showers and explosions as they speed through space.

Richard added: “Astro Storm has evolved into a huge project and even though it is going to take longer to complete than anticipated, it will be worth it. The special effects look amazing.”

During August, the park will also let visitors surf no matter what the wave conditions, thanks to a flowboarding attraction described as ‘skateboarding without the wheels’.

Children’s ITV will also be spending part of the summer at the Brean park, filming the new series of The Sooty Show.
