Brean fundraiser aims to climb the height of Mount Everest in 24 hours for charity

-

The Captain of Brean Golf Club will be climbing the height of Mount Everest during a fundraising challenge next month.

Trevor Pitt wants to ‘step up’ the club’s fundraising this year for its charity of the year, British Skin Foundation, and is therefore organising the unique event over a 24-hour period on a step climbing machine.

It will take place at Brean Splash Gym, where Trevor is also a member and a regular user of the facilities.

“A few of the golf club members have been diagnosed and treated for skin cancer in recent years and, after the baking hot summer of 2018, the decision has been taken to raise money for the only UK charity which funds research into all types of skin disease, including skin cancer, which has proved to be a popular one,” he says.

Trevor, a retired Police Officer, has been training for this challenge for some time and hopes to complete the 29,028 stairs to the summit within 24 hours in the event at the start of April.

Golf club members have already been pledging their support to their Captain and a justgiving page has been set up for the event where any sponsorship will be gratefully received at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/trevor-pitt-trek

Following on from Trevor’s challenge a few other events are being planned to boost the funds over the next 12 months.
