A Brean couple whose home was destroyed in a huge fire last month tied the knot in an emotional wedding today, Monday (December 22nd).
Burnham-On-Sea.com broke the news on November 23rd that a devastating fire had swept through a wooden chalet owned by Brean beach warden Ron Sharrard and his partner Angela Davies (pictured).
Fire crews from across the county tackled the blaze, but they could not save the property or two Yorkshire Terriers trapped inside.
Despite the traumatic events, however, the couple exchanged vows in Brean’s St Bridget’s Church on Monday in front of a large congregation of family, friends and supporters.
Ron, who was also celebrating his birthday on Monday, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s been a wonderful day, full of emotion.”
“We’re trying to put the fire and everything that’s happened behind us now.”
He added: “We’ve been bowled over by the support of people in the Burnham area – it’s been simply superb.”
Messages of support and offers of financial help for the couple have flowed in during recent weeks.
