Coastguards and lifeboats conducted a search of Brean Down on Friday night (June 21st) amid concern that two people had been cut-off by the incoming tide.
Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and two lifeboats from nearby Weston were called to the Down to search the rocks and cliff faces, as pictured here.
“A member of the National Trust team was concerned that she’d seen two people cut-off near the bottom of the Down as the tide was coming in,” Burnham Coastguard Officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We carried out a full search of the base of the Down and Swansea Coastguards tasked Weston’s lifeboats with searching the rocks, but no-one was found.”
“The incident was determined to have been a false alarm with good intent.”
