Angry National Trust bosses have this week hit out at graffiti vandals who have struck at historic Brean Down Fort near Burnham-On-Sea.
The vandals have attacked a former gun emplacement at the southern side of the Fort, as pictured, leaving the building’s owner, The National Trust, to pay for a clean-up operation.
Head Warden for the area, Mark Courtiour, told Burnham-On-Sea.com his team would be visiting the fort to begin the clean-up shortly.
“It is very annoying when this happens,” he said. “Not only is it time consuming for us to remove, but costly as well. The money could be spent in other ways.”
“Luckily, it doesn’t happen too often. Most of the people that do this don’t have the patience to walk out to the fort at the end of the Down.”
He added that it was unclear how long the graffiti had been in place.
