An electrical fault is being blamed for the devastating fire which destroyed this chalet at Brean and killed two pet dogs on Sunday afternoon (November 23rd).
The remains of the home, pictured above, were still smoldering on Monday afternoon following Sunday’s horrifying blaze.
Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported on Sunday afternoon how strong onshore winds had whipped up the flames, which tore through the wooden chalet close to Brean Down Bird Garden.
Fire engines from Burnham-On-Sea, Taunton, Bridgwater, Street and Weston were called to tackle the blaze.
Investigators have begun to try and piece together why the blaze started and brigade spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday evening: “The investigation is still underway, but at this stage it looks as though it was accidental and caused by an electrical fault. It is too early to say that with full confidence, though.”
Messages of sympathy for the owners, Ron Sharrard and Angila Davies, have been posted on Burnham’s discussion forums.
The owner was due to get married in December and many of his belongings for the big day have been lost, along with two much-loved pet dogs.
