Brean beach mystery as steering column and driver’s wheel emerge in sand

-

Mystery surrounds the discovery of this rusty steering column and driver’s wheel on Brean beach this week.

A series of high tides during recent days have shifted sand around on local beaches at Burnham-On-Sea, Berrow and Brean.

While Burnham-On-Sea.com frequently reports on vehicles getting stuck on Brean beach, the discovery of this item is a little different.

“It’s a whole steering column and driver’s wheel that appear to have been buried in the sand for quite a few years,” says beach warden Dave Furber.

“We’d love to find out why it’s here. If anyone has information, please get in touch via Burnham-On-Sea.com, but don’t expect to be reunited with the rest of the vehicle!” he says.

There are many other rusty remains of vehicle parts in the sands from over the decades that serve as reminders about the danger of fast-incoming tides and sticky mud.
