Brave fundraisers are being sought to take part in a bracing dip in the sea at Brean on Boxing Day in aid of a Burnham-On-Sea charity.
Over a dozen supporters of rescue hovercraft charity BARB have already signed up to take part in the sponsored splash, which will be held to raise money towards the £60,000 campaign to buy a new rescue hovercraft.
“This is a unique opportunity to work off the excesses of Christmas Day while raising money for a good cause,” a BARB spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We’ve already had plenty of interest from people wanting to take part and welcome participants and spectators.”
Those taking part will gather at 12 noon at Krackers bar in South Road, Brean on Saturday December 26th before walking down to the beach.
The event’s organiser, Mark Roberts, the manager of Krackers, added: “BARB is an excellent cause and we’re delighted to be supporting them at this event.”
Sponsorship forms can be collected from the BARB hovercraft station on Burnham’s Esplanade during this weekend’s Christmas Grotto (open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm) or by calling Mr Roberts on 07701 083173.
