Boxers at King Alfred Amateur Boxing Club in Highbridge have celebrated their latest achievements at a special presentation evening.
Approximately 56 boxers and their families filled the function room of The Coopers in Market Street this week for the event to recognis their work of the last two years.
“Ages ranged from the youngest boxer aged 8 to the seniors and coaches over 18s,” said a spokesman. “This is no longer a boys-only sport and girls were well represented, and their achievements recognised.”
“The Club wishes to attract volunteers to help run the Club and also additional committee members. The Club meets three nights a week from 6.30pm to 8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays while the committee meets four times a year.”
He added: “The club would like to thank Mr and Mrs Penfold for their generous donation of £100 for the superb supper provided by the Landlord and Landlady of The Coopers, and thank you to them for the spread which was truly excellent.”
