Burnham-On-Sea’s Boots chemist store plans has installed new security shutters this week following a spate of burglaries.
The store in Burnham’s High Street has suffered four burglaries since the beginning of April, with thousands of pounds of stock stolen.
Bosses recently the go-ahead for metal shutters to be installed to protect the store’s glass doors from further overnight break-ins.
“We’ve reluctantly decided to install the shutters – we really didn’t want to do this, not just for the cost but also the appearance of the store,” Chris Donkin, the store’s assistant manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The shutters were installed this week following night-time burglaries on Saturday May 27th, Sunday April 16th, Thursday April 13th, and Monday April 3rd.
