Police have been praised after the quick arrest of a woman following a shoplifting incident at Burnham-On-Sea’s Boots store yesterday (Saturday, May 13th).
Over £200 of make-up products and fragrances were taken from the High Street chemist at around 12 mid-day, but the store was able to alert other nearby traders and the CCTV camera team and Police.
Chris Donkin, the store’s Assistant Manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was our first day using Burnham’s radio link scheme and we put the message out straight away after realising the woman had been shoplifting.”
“The High Street CCTV camera operators at Sedgemoor District Council were notified and were able to track the woman getting into a vehicle. Burnham Police were able to identify the vehicle, track her down locally and arrest her. We were very impressed with the quick work of the Police in arresting the person.”
A Police spokesman confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A woman was arrested and evidence that supports the prosecution was seized, along with a small quantity of drugs.”
