Burnham-On-Sea fire crews called to tackle ‘out-of-control’ bonfire

-

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called out on Sunday evening (May 7th) to tackle an out-of-control bonfire in Highbridge.

They were called out just before 9pm to Walrow Farm in Mark Road, Highbridge after a motorist reporting seeing “plumes of smoke”.

One fire crew from Burnham-On-Sea fire station was sent to investigate.

“Upon investigation this was found to be a large out-of-control bonfire. Given the size of the bonfire the attending crew requested a second fire engine also from Burnham-On-Sea be mobilised for water,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Crews extinguished the fire using hose reel jets and drag forks. The fire was eventually extinguished by crews who returned to their station just after 9.50pm.
