A Police investigation is underway to identifty the body part of a man washed up on Brean Beach on Monday evening (September 25th).
Police were called to the sands at around 6.30pm after a dog walker came across the shock find on the high tideline.
An eyewitness told Burnham-On-Sea.com that an area between Brean Cove and Brean’s main beach parking entrance was temporarily closed off while Police were at the scene.
The decomposing body part was taken away by several teams of Police officers later in the evening as their investigation got underway to identify the person.
Brean beach has since fully re-opened, confirmed the beach warden.
A Police spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called to Warren Road in Brean at 6.40pm on Monday September 25th after an item, possibly remains, were found washed up on the beach.”
“The matter has been referred to the coroner and we are carrying out enquiries on behalf of the coroner to determine the nature of the item.”
