Police have confirmed that a body was found washed up on Burnham-On-Sea’s beach on Saturday morning (December 8th).
A beach walker made the grim discovery next to the jetty mid-morning, prompting police to seal off the area, as pictured here.
Sgt Ian Kennett from Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I can confirm that a body of an adult was found on the beach, but it is too early to confirm whether it was male or female.”
“Efforts to identify the body have begun and checks of missing people records are underway.”
It is understood the body had been in the water some time before it was washed up.
Officers sealed off the area and investigated the scene for around an hour before removing a body bag.
Two weeks ago, Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here that a pensioner had gone missing although there are no indications at this stage that the two incidents are linked.
