The body of a man has been recovered from a river near Burnham-On-Sea following a police search for a missing person on Friday (June 1st).
Burnham-On-Sea.com learns the body of a man, who has not yet been named, was recovered from a river in East Huntspill, near Newbridge Drove, this afternoon.
It follows a major search operation carried out by police, the fire service’s water rescue team, a police helicopter and police divers – as pictured here.
Inspector Roger Tolley confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com this evening: “An extensive search was carried out for a missing person in the East Huntspill area.”
“Concerns were raised for his safety by officers and a thorough search of the Huntspill River was carried out using the police helicopter, an underwater search unit and fire crews.”
“This resulted in police finding the body of a person in the river. At this stage the person has not been identified. Investigations are underway to identify the person.”
