Police have identified the woman whose body was washed up on Burnham-On-Sea beach last weekend.
A beach walker found the body next to the jetty at around 10am last Saturday, prompting police to seal off the area as they investigated the discovery.
A post mortem on Tuesday confirmed the body was a woman and, on Friday, police said the identity was now known.
Police spokeswoman Cath Foster told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Her identity is now known and efforts are underway to confirm this information.”
Officers investigating the case say they are “keeping an open mind” on the cause of the death.
