A former world darts champion dropped in at a Burnham-On-Sea bookies on Friday afternoon (March 26th).
Bob Anderson, who was ranked world number one for over three years in the late 1980s, visited the Bet Fred shop in College Street during a promotional tour.
Store manager Bob Gilbert received a signed photo from the player, and several customers challenged him to a few impromptu games.
Mr Gilbert told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was great to welcome Bob to Burnham – there was lots of interest in him.”
“He presented us with a signed photo, which is now hung in the shop, and played a few games with our customers who gave him a run for their money.”
Anderson has had a long and successful darts career, winning the World Professional Championship in 1988 and the Winmau World Masters in 1986, 1987 and 1988 – the only man to win the Masters in three successive years.
His world ranking has stayed sufficiently high to earn automatic qualification for most major PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) tournaments. He reached the semi-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship in 2004 and 2005.
The player is currently touring Bet Fred bookmakers across the south west.
