Burnham-On-Sea BMX Club youngsters ride 845 laps to raise funds

-

Youngsters at Burnham-On-Sea BMX Club have jumped on their bikes to raise funds.

A sponsored bike ride has this week been held at the club, based at Highbridge’s Apex Park, to raise funds for a new gazebo.

“14 children took part by riding sponsored laps around the track and they did really well – riding a combined 845 laps or 169 miles over the three hours,” the club’s secretary, Michelle Fryer, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We need to raise £400 to replace our current match-day gazebo, which is 12 years old and in tatters. It provides shelter for the children and their bikes during competitions and will have our club’s branding.”

“Doing the fundraising is helping to give the children a sense of pride and belonging – they have been wonderful.”

The club currently has around 40 members and welcomes newcomers.
