A month of warm sunshine has turned the grassy slopes of Brean Down blue!
Thousands of bluebells have been in full bloom on the northern slopes of the rocky outcrop in recent days, as pictured here.
Large numbers of walkers have been taking advantage of the good weather to enjoy the wild flowers at their very best.
“It’s been a fantastic display of bluebells on Brean Down this year,” National Trust spokesman Allan King told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The nothern side of the Down is slightly more sheltered than the south and there is a deeper soil cover there too – so it’s perfect for them. There are very few spots like this in the UK where you can see bluebells like this.”
The bluebell was recently voted Britain’s most popular wild flower in a nationwide poll and Brean Down was last year named as one of the UK’s top walks.
