Brean Leisure Park has handed out almost £15,000 to local charities and good causes over the past year.
Fundraising events this year have included a Golf Pro Am Tournament, which raised £1,800 for the Injured Jockeys fund, £500 for St Margaret’s Hospice and £500 for the Alzheimer Society.
The park’s pig and donkey races which took place over the school summer holidays proved to be a great fundraiser with £3,440 raised for Burnham-On-Sea St John Ambulance and another £3,440 for Burnham-On-Sea Sea Cadets. Holiday Resort Unity Holiday Home Owners also raised £1,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness.
A further £1,000 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Society and a sponsored walk along Brean Beach and Brean Down in late September brought in over £900, while raffles organised by The Tavern Country Music Club raised a further £3,000.
Finally, £1,000 was also raised for the Air Ambulance. And Burnham rescue hovercraft charity BARB also attended all four of the park’s firework displays during 2010 to make collections.
Bridget House told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re very happy to help local charities in the area and put something back into our community.”
