Strong winds created these wonderful scenes in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (January 27th), as large quantities of sand were blown along the beach – to the fascination of walkers.
A few hardy walkers braved the biting temperatures and northerly winds, which saw swirling soft sand blown along the beach towards Burnham-On-Sea, as photographed here.
One walker, Greg Hawker, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s a remarkable sight when this happens – we love to come up from Bridgwater to see it.”
“Burnham beach always looks slightly different whenever we visit due to the action of the winds and tides – whether it’s shifting sand, moving dunes or mud – we love it here.”
The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for high winds with gusts of up to 65mph sweeping through the area.
