Burnham In Bloom’s leader steps down after 34 years in the role

-

Burnham in Bloom’s Chairman and Treasurer has announced this week he is to give up his high-profile roles this autumn following three decades with the group.

Dave Perrett, 65, told Burnham-On-Sea.com he is stepping down to give “the younger generation a chance to get more involved.”

He added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my 34 years with Burnham In Bloom. There have been ups and downs, but it has mostly been very enjoyable.”

“Now is the right time to bow out – when we’re at the top. We have put together a super entry for Burnham this year and everyone has high hopes that the judges will agree with us when the Britain In Bloom results are announced next month.”

Dave was recognised with a Civic Award for his work with the group in 2005, as Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here at the time.

This week, he thanked other members of the Burnham In Bloom group for their support – particularly Richard Young, Jo Brown, Joyce Faulks, Joan White and Sarah White.

Dave will formally step down this autumn after the award results are announced.
