Burnham-On-Sea police issue appeal after thefts of aviary birds

-

Two separate thefts of birds occurred this month and in October, prompting the appeal from officers investigating the cases.

“The thefts have been very upsetting for the owners as these birds are long standing pets and some have been rehoused after family break ups,” Sgt Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The stolen birds include peach faced lovebirds (pictured right), lutinos, pied and grey cockatiels, budgerigars, diamond doves, rosa bourke parakeets and kakarikis.

Sgt Kennett added: “The aviaries are now protected by a high-tech CCTV security system to prevent any reoccurrence.”

“If anybody is offered any of these type of aviary birds for sale they are asked to contact either the officer dealing PC Pete Wills or PCSO Sheila Dickinson at Burnham Police Station on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
