Move over Turnip Prize… Brent Knoll launches the Bilge Awards!

-

Brent Knoll’s very own version of Somerset’s spoof art competition The Turnip Prize has attracted over 40 humorous and risque entries.

Organisers of the Bilge (Brent Knoll Individual Lacklustre Golden Egg) Awards said they were delighted with the variety of entries, which were on show at the village hall on Sunday (May 15th), as pictured here.

Visitors to the village’s spring festival were invited to cast their votes for the worst entries and the inaugural contest was won by Alan Routledge for his entry of an empty toilet roll, simply entitled ‘Bugger!’.

Second place went to Alan Castle for his entry of two spirit levels, named ‘Level Crossing’. And third was Jane Wilson for her ‘Heir on the G-String’ entry featuring underwear with a photograph of Prince William attached.

Organiser Brian Freestone told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Villagers showed a lot of imagination and we had some great entries that raised a lot of laughs. We were pleased to get over 40 entries and intend to make this an annual event.”
