Weekly bike nights on Burnham seafront raise cash for charity

-

Almost £400 has been raised for charity during a series of summer motorbike nights in Burnham-On-Sea – despite bad weather cancelling two of the weekly events.

77 bikers gathered in Burnham’s Morrisons car park on Tuesday (June 4th) for the latest in the series of weekly bike runs, which are being held to raise money for local good causes.

Co-organiser Phil Hayward told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re really pleased to have raised around £400 so far for good causes from donations and entry fees from the bike riders.”

“The weather was superb this week, but two of the previous five events had to be cancelled due to heavy rain so we have not had the best of starts!”

“We look forward to seeing more bikers over the coming weeks and local people to see the bikes on showl. We really hope that this gathers momentum.”

The bikers arrive from 6pm each Tuesday and each biker makes a donation of £1, with the proceeds going to local charities plus the memorial fund set up in memory of Dylan Cecil, the four year-old boy who died after falling from the town’s jetty last year.

The bike nights are being supported by Burnham Town Team and are held each Tuesday until September 1st. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
