A dedicated volunteer has this week been thanked for raising thousands of pounds towards the running costs of Burnham-On-Sea’s tourist information centre.
Margaret Fielder has raised a huge £6,263 over five years for BiARS (Burnham Information and Rescue Support), the community group that operates the seafront centre.
She regularly attends car boot sales across Somerset, selling books, plants and bric-a-brac for BiARS.
“I’m delighted to do my bit to help generate a steady flow of income for the centre,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “BiARS provides a vital information service in Burnham and I’m keen to help it with funding.”
Tom Ashton, Chairman of BiARS, said: “Margaret is our biggest individual fundraiser and we are very grateful for all her support. She raises around £1,500 a year for us, which is fantastic.”
“All our volunteers are wonderful and every one gives a much-valued contribution in their individual way. I would like them all to be considered for a group civic award.”
