Residents give boost to Burnham tourist information centre group

-

Volunteers from the organisation that runs Burnham’s seafront information centre have been handed a donation by a group of residents.

Residents of Jaycroft Road held a garden sale in August in aid of BIARS (Burnham Information and Rescue Support), the charitable group that operates the town’s information centre.

The profits from the sale, which amounted to £95, were presented to the volunteers on Sunday (September 18th).

“The residents wanted to help a local good cause, so BIARS is ideal,” Jaycroft Road resident Peter Strong told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

BIARS took over the facilities from Sedgemoor District Council in April. Its team of over 20 volunteers hand out tourist and community information while providing sea safety advice and selling merchandise from BARB and Burnham Coastguard Association. New volunteers are welcome to join the centre’s friendly team calling in at the centre or contacting the group here.
