Top ‘green’ awards won by Burnham-On-Sea holiday park

-

Staff at a holiday park in Burnham-On-Sea are celebrating this week after netting two top green awards.

Burnham Holiday Village has been awarded a gold in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards and a silver in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

The honours recognise saving water and power, recycling, helping the local community and promoting wildlife.

Grounds Manager Pete Bellingham said the park had managed to reduce power consumption by fitting energy-saving light bulbs and introducing sensor lighting in some public areas.

Water consumption has also been reduced and the park is now recycling a large amount of its rubbish, including paper, cardboard, bottles and cans, through the use of recycling bays across the park.

General Manager Graham Plant added: “It’s great news to receive these awards, particularly the GTBS award as it was our first year of entering. They are a tribute to the dedication and hard work of our team.”
