Proposals to convert this prominent former nursing home on Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront into a guesthouse were given a ‘thumbs-up’ by town councillors on Wednesday evening (April 14th).
At a meeting of the council’s Planning Applications Committee, members passed a ‘change of use’ application to convert Beverley Cottage residential care home into a guesthouse incorporating owner’s accommodation.
Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported on the plans last month surrounding Beverley Cottage, which has been vacant since owners Brunelcare close down the facilities in 2009 due to financial pressures.
Town councillors this week strongly supported the plans, saying they would create new jobs and encourage more visitors to visit the town.
A couple from Oxfordshire, who soon hope to purchase the property, submitted the plans. Sedgemoor District Council will review the scheme shortly and give its own judgement on the plans.
