New traditional sweet shop opens in Burnham-On-Sea High Street

-

A traditional sweet shop selling old-fashioned confectionery has opened in Burnham-On-Sea this week.

Burnham residents Les and Sue Barber have opened the new business, called Bessie’s Sweet Shoppe, at 44 The High Street.

Alongside jars of sweets and seaside rock are locally-made chocolates, fudges and ice cream.

Sue told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a very busy day on Saturday, our opening day, with lots of very positive feedback.”

“Many visitors have been reminiscing about the traditional sweets we are selling that they remember from their childhoods!”

The new shop is open from 9am-5pm on Mondays-Saturdays and 10.30am-4pm on Sundays.

Among the mouth-watering products on sale is locally-made fudge from Mister Fudge, which is run by Burnham-On-Sea’s Jonathan Walter.
