Major £300,000 Berrow Village Hall revamp gets underway

-

A major £300,000 project to refurbish Berrow Village Hall is progressing well, with work on track to be completed by Christmas.

The work includes a new extension to the busy building to create a new meeting hall, meeting room and modern toilet facilities.

Owen Davies, Treasurer of Berrow Community Association, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week the work is on schedule to be completed by the end of December.

“The work is well underway and we’re hoping to officially open the new-look hall in the early part of 2011,” he said.

“As part of the project, the flat roof which was built in the 1970s, has been demolished. The work was initially delayed in the summer due to the discovery of asbestos but it’s all back on track.”

The popular village hall is actively used by more than 20 groups, who are all temporarily meeting elsewhere during the work.

The groups provide bowling, drama, gardening, bingo and music, and also include the Parish Council, U3A and the WI.
