Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has this week congratulated the team behind Berrow’s successful bid for £50,000 of grant funding towards a new play area in the village and vowed to honour a promise he made if the bid was won.
As first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com last Thursday, the village was awarded the funding after being named the ‘lucky loser’ in a phone competition organised by The People’s Millions and ITV West.
The £50,000 will enable Berrow’s Empowering Play Area (BEPA) project to proceed and a new play area with modern equipment will be created on the village green.
MP David Heathcoat-Amory said on Monday (November 30th) he will honour a promise he made to Jenny Bentley, Chair of Berrow Parish Council.
“I promised Jenny that if they won I would join her in climbing the Buccaneer Tower, which is to be centrepiece of the project,” he said. “I look forward to keeping my promise and joining her on the top.”
He added: “Berrow is an important village in my constituency with a growing population and they need this play area. I am delighted it has been awarded a bonus grant of £50,000.”
