Plans for new shop and three homes at Berrow Inn site win backing
Plans to build a new convenience store and three homes at the site of a former pub in Berrow have been given a thumbs-up by parish councillors.
Berrow parish councillors have considered the planning application from Novellus LLP to convert the former Berrow Inn into a retail unit, and three dwellings.
Parish Council Chairman Barry Kew told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “As a parish council, we have recommended approval. This is a brownfield site within the Berrow development boundary.”
“We feel this is a good use of the site and the large majority of the village are in favour of having a convenience store there alongside three houses which would be in keeping with the surroundings.”
The scheme – which we first reported last year – will see a four-bed detached home and two three-bed semi detached dwellings built with 12 parking spaces.
Comments on the application – which has a reference number of 05/15/00014 – are being welcomed from residents and interested parities by Sedgemoor District Council until September 11th when the application will be considered for approval.
The Berrow Inn was demolished back in May 2014, as reported here, following months of uncertainty about the future of the pub.
