Berrow homes plan gets the nod from district planners

-

District planners have this week given the go-ahead for the construction of a housing and flats complex at Berrow, near Burnham-On-Sea.

Sedgemoor’s Development Control Committee gave delegated permission for the construction of a building to form eight one bedroom apartments on the site of an existing dwelling, which is to be demolished at 30 Barton Road.

The complex also includes two one bedroom bungalows and the formation of parking and access.

Three letters of objection had been received from local residents who claimed more traffic would be created on an already busy road and more drainage problems would be generated. a loss of privacy as bungalows will overlook neighbouring houses.

A block of apartments at the site was previously approved by the committee in February 2006, however this new proposal is an alternative scheme showing two bungalows to the rear of the block, which is currently under construction. Therefore, the proposal had to be treated as an alternative scheme.
