Fire-hit Berrow Football Club to hold special fundraising concert

Fire-hit Berrow Football Club hopes to raise hundreds of pounds towards the cost of replacing damaged sports equipment when it holds a fundraising concert and auction.

Tickets have gone on sale for the special fundraising night, to be held on Saturday January 21st, which comes just weeks after the devastating fire which destroyed the club’s changing rooms.

The fundraising evening will be held in the Farmers Tavern, Brean and will start at 7.30 pm and continue until midnight.

Popular local band Riverbrew – pictured above at the 2004 Under a Summer Moon Concert in Burnham-On-Sea – will be headlining the event.

Tickets cost £10 each and are available now from Berrow News or from club members.

Club secretary Rachel Dyer recently told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The building itself was covered by insurance and will be replaced.”

“But our equipment, such as the white lining machine, corner flags, training balls, goal nets and bibs were not. We therefore need to raise all the money we can.”

A fundraising football match is also to be held against Yeovil Town Over 40s later in 2006 and a calendar is currently on sale.
