Berrow’s annual village fayre will go ahead as planned today (Saturday, 16th June) despite a forecast of wet weather.
Organisers met on Friday afternoon to discuss whether to postpone the event, but they decided to proceed as planned.
The event will be held between 11am and 4.30pm on the Millennium Field (off Red Road) in the village.
“Some activities may be moved inside the village hall, but the event is definitely going ahead – the weather won’t beat us!” co-organiser Lynn Smith told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The fayre will include a wide range of entertainment, from police dogs demonstration to a Zumba display, plus refreshments.
Lynn added: “This year our arena attractions will include two birds of prey displays, with an opportunity to have your picture taken holding a bird of prey, a police drug dogs’ demonstration and a Zumba display.”
“There will be a cake competition and an alternative dog show, Scruffs, with classes such as ‘The Waggiest Tail’ and ‘The Best 6 Legs (Dog and Owner)’.”
“There will be plenty of stalls selling various products together with a beer tent, a barbecue, a café selling cream teas and ploughmans in the Village Hall and various other food stalls.”
“There is no entrance fee and plenty of free parking on the Red Road Playing Fields so please come along and have a great time. We are also holding a lucky programme draw, so fill in the back of your programme and drop in into the box by the BBQ on the day for a chance to win £50.00.”
The Fayre – which is being supported by Westcoast Properties in Burnham – is organised by the Berrow Community Association’s Entertainment Team and all proceeds will go towards completing the refurbishment and extension of the hall.
