Volunteers are being sought for scrub clearance and conservation work at Berrow beach and dunes.
Sedgemoor Conservation Volunteers will be at Berrow Dunes Local Nature Reserve on Sunday, 26th February and Bristol University Conservation Group will be there on 19th March.
The volunteers will be undertaking sea-buckthorn scrub clearance and native shrub planting and say would be glad of any additional help.
“Berrow Dunes has long been recognised as an important area for nature conservation,” said a spokeswoman.
“The local nature reserve, owned and managed by Sedgemoor District Council is included within the Berrow Dunes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The site supports one of the most diverse floras in Somerset, with at least 270 species of flowering plants being recorded in this area.”
Anyone wishing to help out should meet at 10.30am on Sunday 26th February at the Local Nature Reserve car park. Please wear appropriate clothing, footwear and gloves.
Any person who wishes to take part in conservation events at Berrow Dunes may contact Sedgemoor District Council’s Landscape Officer 0300 303 7800 for further details.
