Children at Berrow’s Primary and Berrow Pre-School have been celebrating Diwali over the past week.
The pupils took part in a week-long celebration of Diwali, which ended with a party, as pictured above.
“The children all made and decorated divas which they lit during the party. They also enjoyed decorating Rangoli patterns and making fireworks through the week,” the school’s Daycare Manager Annette Milburn told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Each child gave and received a flower garland made from tissue paper and string. Staff from the Foundation Stage unit said that the children really enjoyed this special celebration and were impressed by how well the children learned and understood the story of Diwali and how the party atmosphere built through the week.”
The children had the opportunity to try Indian foods and also dance to Indian music.
“We feel that it is important for the children to learn about other cultures and customs. The children really enjoy experiences such as this, especially when they are made very real for the children. Nothing is more real than a party with
food!”
