Berrow Parish Council has expressed its relief after the wreckage of this overturned car was finally removed from the Village Green on Thursday (March 12th), almost a month after a crash.
The red Nissan had been there since a crash at 2am on February 14th when the 23 year-old driver from Hertfordshire lost control and was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and driving without insurance.
Berrow Parish Council had tried unsuccessfully to get in contact with the driver to have it removed, as we first reported here, so Sedgemoor District Council was instead asked to serve a formal notice on it and this led to it being taken away on Thursday afternoon.
Berrow Parish Council Chairman Barry Kew told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are relieved that it has finally been removed – it was an eyesore.”
“We’re grateful to Sedgemoor District Council for their help. We wanted to ensure that this was done properly and that the formal guidelines were followed.”
“There will be no cost to the Parish Council – the £150 fee to have the car removed will be charged to the owner by Sedgemoor District Council.”
