Burnham-On-Sea bereavement support group marks its second year

-

A Burnham-On-Sea Bereavement Cafe is set to mark its second anniversary this weekend.

The support group is held on the third Sunday of every month in the town’s St Andrew’s Church at 4pm, and this weekend’s event on September 17th will mark the second anniversary since it opened.

Reverend Sharon Eldergill told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Bereavement Cafe came about because we wanted to offer a support group in the town for those who have been affected by bereavement.”

“The Bereavement Cafe is open to all people of any faiths or none who have been bereaved, and provides a space for reflection, conversation and support.”

“Bereavement can be bewildering and disorientating, and at Bereavement Cafe trained helpers are on hand to offer support along the way.”

“But the most valuable asset are the guests themselves, who offer hope, support and friendship to each other just by chatting with people who have shared the experience of loss and Bereavement.”

“Guests are welcome to attend as many sessions as they like, and there is no charge made.”

“There is always tea, coffee and cake at Bereavement Cafe, and this Sunday we will have a birthday cake, and explore some of the ways of marking birthdays and anniversaries that people have found helpful to them.”
