Brent Knoll to join nationwide chain of Jubilee beacons

-

Brent Knoll will be among 2,600 locations across the UK joining a nationwide chain of beacons to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in June.

A beacon will be lit on the summit of Brent Knoll which will be clearly visible from Burnham, weather permitting, on Monday 4th June.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council had also hoped to light a beacon on the town’s beach, however a high tide that night means this will not be possible.

A network of more than 2,600 beacons is to be lit by communities throughout the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, along with the Commonwealth and UK overseas territories, on 4th June to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The exact times will be announced in May.

It is one of several celebrations announced by Buckingham Palace on the extended Bank Holiday central weekend of 2nd-5th June.
