Brean pub presents bumper £10,000 cheque to Cancer Research UK

-

Brean’s Beachcomber Inn has donated more than £10,000 to Cancer Research UK following fundraising over the holiday season.

The pub held various events in aid of the charity and raised a grand total of £10,595.90 which has been handed over during an event at the pub.

Darren Eastwood, Entertainment Manager at The Beachcomber, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have donated more than £10,000 to Cancer Research UK. It’s an incredible amount and we’d like to thank everybody who contributed by either fundraising or donating.”

“I grew my hair and beard throughout the entire eight month season and raised sponsorship money. It became ridiculously long and I had the whole lot shaved off at the end of the season to raise funds.”

“Matt Harwood and Bongo Dave also had their heads shaved in aid of the charity, and Bob Warren grew his beard especially for the chop. It was a very entertaining evening!”

“Ross Bolts decided to make paper roses to sell as part of the fundraiser too. It’s fantastic so many people got on board to support us.”

The Beachcomber encouraged donations throughout the year and held a charity Summer Fête as featured here.

Darren added: “Cancer Research UK is our main charity of the year and we’re really pleased to support its work. Cancer affects the lives of so many people and it’s such a worthy cause.”

“A special mention must go to our biggest donators. Mandy Keen from Southern Counties Leisure in Burnham-On-Sea donated an extremely generous £500. Scott and Pauline Jopson also gave £500, and Tom and Helen Hackett donated £250.”

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research.

The Beachcomber is Warren Farm Holiday Centre’s clubhouse and has a modern Cabaret bar, a family bar and children’s room.
